Here we are, it's that time of year when everyone starts to re-think their fitness routine to start the year off right...But, you have a different reason to think about your fitness and health- that belly bump that's growing a person inside!

For those of you on the fitness road and expecting, here are our 5 picks for fitness must haves while sporting a baby bump. Whether you like to run, yoga, pilates, etc, these essentials will keep you comfortable & supported and looking great while you do it!

**(Note: If you are not currently in an active fitness routine- be sure to consult your physician before starting any new kind of fitness activity while pregnant.)

1. Running Skirts:

We love skirts from Running Skirts www.runningskirts.com  They come in an array of colors & patterns and are super comfortable! They feature an extra wide supportive belly band and are made in a comfortable, lightweight performance fabric & have attached compression shorts underneath. The shorts have longer inseams to prevent ride up and have flat seams to prevent chaffing. The skirts also have two roomy pockets at the hips to store your keys, lip balm, gym card, etc. Cute enough for running errands after your workout or meeting up with friends for lunch!
2. Fitness Tanks:
We have a couple faves in this category. First, we like the bamboo, cotton & spandex fitness tanks from Ocean Lily www.oceanlilymaternityactivewear.com. Bamboo fiber is known for it's softness and natural anti-bacterial qualities and these performance tanks can absorb & wick away moisture up to 4 times faster than other natural fibers. (because who likes to feel all sweaty on top of being preggers!) The Ocean Lily fitness tanks are designed to fit you well beyond your baby bump and keep you looking and feeling great.
Secondly we adore the For Two Fitness tanks! www.fortwofitness.com They come in several themes such as the 'Training for Two' seen here, as well as Running for Two and Sweating for Two, plus many more! The tanks come in several colors and feature a four-way stretch fabric with side rouching to hug your growing belly. The extra long tanks are made in performance, moisture-wicking fabrics that are ultra-soft and tagless. For Two Fitness is also MADE IN THE USA!
3. Sports Bras:
Now you may be thinking; "sports bras, that should be a no brainer..." We know, every fitness girl needs to wrangle those puppies in, especially when they are bigger than they've ever been, sore and growing! We happen to have two here that are a must have. First, for low impact we like the Motherhood Maternity www.motherhood.com. These wireless, breathable nylon/spandex bras offer full support and are super comfy. The key feature on these bras is that while looking like a standard sports bra, they un-clip and allow you to breastfeed or pump.

For higher impact and running, we love the Fiona from Moving Comfort. www.movingcomfort.com
The Fiona comes in sizes all the way up to 44DD and features front adjustable straps that have concealed hook-and-loop closures that allow you to adjust the fit as your pregnancy and post pregnancy size changes. They have lightweight molded cups and are designed to prevent that annoying boob-bounce. The back is also an adjustable closure making this a great bra so see you through your workouts throughout your pregnancy and beyond!

4. Compression Socks:

Who loves swollen feet? Not so much, but no need to wear those nude, un-sexy compression hose when you can wear these super-cute and functional compression socks from Running Skirts. www.runningskirts.com Most doctors recommend compression socks during pregnancy to reduce swelling and increase circulation. Pregnancy puts added stress on our circulatory systems and compression socks help to get the blood flowing from our feet back to our hearts. These socks from Running Skirts are great for running & working out! Why not be cute & sassy while aiding those swollen feet & legs?

5. Support Belts:

If you're into any kind of fitness that requires a little more support for your baby bump, we love this support belt from Gabrialla. www.itamed.com We highly recommended this belt for our pregnant runners or those that just need a little extra belly support. Free from binding straps that put extra strain on your baby bump and this belt adds compression to help in stabilizing your hips which reduces the pressure on your lower back. It promotes good posture and balance as well as reducing stretch marks. Features a back pocket to slip in a hot or cold pack too! Designed to last you through your pregnancy and through post-partum.

We hope that you found this helpful and we wish you all the best during your fit pregnancy and after. Let us know if you have a favorite maternity fitness item you'd like to share as well, we'd love to hear from you!
